BLACKTAIL RATTILING!
« on: August 07, 2014, 07:22:38 AM »
There is a thread on here about Whitetail rattling but there isn't one on black tail.   I am assuming it's similar, but i have never had a black tail bolt in like a white tail does.  I know with white tails you can use decoys, scents, etc... and of course rattling.  With blacktails i have only ever hunted them from a stand, blind, or spot and stalk.  So what your take? what do you do to rattle one of these big boys in?

I've had some luck; but only in the rut. I heard they respond pre-rut but never had any luck.

Start slow, and make sure you are concealed well.

Last year I called in a fellow hunter too...

Tree Killer a member on this site absolutely slays them in OR.  See this linked thread to make you jealous.  http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,108231.0.html.  There are a few other members that have managed to figure it out as well.

like I tell everyone when things are not happening you have to make something happen ..that's one way to make it happen ..also get yourself a grunt tube ... I have tried many but the best one for me with results has been the ( Ridge Runner) by Quaker Boy ...Wow..did I just give out to much info ?  :dunno:

Looking at this deer's face I'm compelled to ask a question:Did you have to fight him off with those rattlin horns? :chuckle:

Come on, Rasbo.  You are killing me.  Tell me the story with this fellow (what happened to his face and his eye?).  Did you punch him?
