Desert late archery
« on: June 11, 2014, 02:16:00 PM »
I drew a late archery deer tag for the desert unit. I have never drawn a tag so im pretty excited. I have not spent much time in the unit but will get over to do some scouting right away. Any advice or pointers on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

thanks and good luck to all

There are alot of acess points. Get some good maps to make sure you don't trespass. I hunted off Dodson road, right off of I-90. Soend as much time over there as you can this summer. I see you didn't get any other replies, keep asking, when everybody stops posting about all the tags they drew, you might get more replies! There are a ton of good people on here that will give you good advice, you just need to hook up with the right one.

Thanks for the reply Yager. I will be going over a lot this summer my girlfriends aunt and uncle own a big farm in Thorpe so i will just go stay with them and make the short drive to the unit for scouting. I plan on spending the first 6 days of the season over there and then going back for the last weekend if i dont fill it on the first trip. I work with a guy who knows some previous tag holders so he is trying to get me as much info as possible. Any other tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

I drew the modern firearm tag after 12 years. I'd be interested in scouting with you. I've never hunted it either so it sounds like we both need to learn the lay of the land.
