We went out bottom fishing around Pt. Deffiance and Vashon Island on Sunday and for the first time in all the years I've fished in that area, I caught not 1 but 2 vermillion rockfish out there. Neither was kept (obviously) and both came out of about 45 feet of water on sandy bottoms. I was just surprised to see them, especially that shallow.
Other than those, it was a surprisingly slow day. We only caught 2 flounder, a couple of bull head, and 3 dog fish. None of the dog fish were worth keeping though. I don't keep any of them under 3 ft; they aren't worth the trouble.
