:dunno:
So I guess there is an unwritten rule that you don't go hunt an area that a friend took you to for a hunt. How much area does that cover? A mile? The drainage? The county?

What if it is a large area and there a 100 or so other guys who have the same secret spot?

I have had the same thing happen with fishing holes. It bugs me a little, but it is a free country and everyone wants wants to get the game or fish.

I did have some family members that didn't like me hunting a huge area that they introduced me to even though I was hunting archery and they hunt modern firearm. The area was kind of overrun by archery hunters too. Lots of other firearm hunters during their season too. It is a big state so I found and am finding other areas to hunt.
I didn't take him, he literally tailed me to the spot. The spot is a road that u walk. By no means is it big. At most it can handle 3-4 hunters at a time. In all of my time hunting it I have only seen select few friends who give each other space while they hunt it. Only about 6 people really new about it. Now 10

You go find your own spot and dont share with anyone :dunno:  I tend to not hunt places someone else took me to without them or without a heads up to them and I dont take anyone else with me if I do... If it feels weird to me at all I will just find another spot its not that big a deal there are a whole lot of acres of land to hunt.

that said kinda sucks to hear about things like this it sure contributes to people not wanting to help anyone who is new.

I would be okay with him hunting it, I guess it's the sheer amount of disrespect that really sets me off.

Totally agree. For me, doesn't matter State, Nat'l Forest... if someone introduced me to it, I won't go there unless they are with me. Now, if the conversation comes up, and I feel they genuinely don't have a problem with it, then I may go, but only after it's discussed prior to the trip. Then I'd go alone, wouldn't bring anyone. I like the idea of sitting them down, especially if they are a newbie and explain to them your concerns.

He's no friend.  Better called a leach or parasite.  Some people like leaches....

I don't.

And he is still alive?
Hardly. LOL!

Yea, but he's a childhood friend, gotta keep him. Just gotta do a better job at keepin my spots on the DL.

I have friends, I have hunting buddies, and I have friend's who I hunt with. Sounds like this cat needs to just be a friend.
:yeah: exactly!

Sounds like this guy was not invited or welcome on your hunt.  It didn't occur to you to call him on his cell phone to ask him why he was following you for an hour and a half? What about pulling over at a gas station or the side of the road and confronting him?  I would have nipped it in the bud before it was an issue.  I have had situations with things like this in the past, most hunters have.  If you plan on keeping him as a friend you better have a "come to Jesus" meeting with him so this sort of thing doesn't play out again.
Good Luck

Even worse when you're hunting your spot and run into one of his other buddies, the arsh that you can't stand! That one put me over the top, never did and never will show him another spot. Even worse, they both just happened to decide to take up archery after I showed my buddy pics of my hunt. Neither has tagged one yet so I'm just hoping they'll get bored with it and move on. I did call out my friend right away too, but like he said, the damage was already done, the other guy already knew about it and he isn't the type that would go elsewhere to be a good guy. I mostly hunt solo now.
