JBLM to limit dog training?

Just registerened at the Northwest adventure center and was informed the listing of the Mazama Pocket Gopher as threatened will effect most south training areas. :yike:

Unleased dogs are not permited in Mazama Pocket Gopher designated critical habitat.... :bash: :bash:

  :yike: That's ridiculous.  :bash:  Are they going to keep the military from their maneuvers as well?  I have to think one tank would do a lot more damage to gopher habitat than a whole passel of dogs.  :dunno:

My retrievers could give a rats a** about gophers, rock chucks, rabbits, etc.
More often than not, the decline in these rodents is in the form of disease, NOT predidation by hunting dogs.
I wonder at times where some of the state biologists studyed.  When asked this question they often reply with the lame answer, "and where did your degree in wildlife management come from?  Answer, the U. of common sense.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

There are plenty of other areas to take your dog and train on JBLM.
