Bike trailers.
« on: July 13, 2014, 01:59:22 PM »
I am trying to brake my cycle of being something cheap and than having it break and buy something nicer the second time :bash: On amazon they have some cargo trailers for bikes that are 100$.  Has anyone tried buying just a cargo trailer with any long term success?  And yes this is going to be used for hauling gear and elk on logging roads, not towing my groceries back from the store or scrap wire to the scrap yard  :chuckle:

Taggin in.  I've been looking for a trailer as well.  I'm 95% sold on the BOB Yak, or BOB Ibex trailer.  I'm leaning towards BOB Yak since it's 4 pounds lighter without the suspension.  I like the idea of a single wheel behind me in case I am on a ridgetop single track somewhere.  They are expensive new, but I've seen the Yak for as low as $65 on craigslist in the Seattle and Portland areas.  If you have a bike with abnormal tire sizes like I do (29er) BOB sells different "forks" to account for different tire size, and fender options.  Like I said, I'm 95% sold on one of these, but interested to see what comes out of this thread!

I ended up getting a BOB Ibex used for cheap.  We'll see how it does.  I'll let you know when I get a chance to use it!  First impressions are great though.  Looks like it will be real stable, and durable, and has the single wheel like I wanted for singletrack.
