Remington 700 ML Question

I hope someone can help. I would like to buy a  Remington 700 ML. I have found one I like . I want to make sure it can be used in Washington. It has not been changed over to the 209 primer. What modification's if any do I need to make? What do the modification's cost. Thanks for your help

The Rem 700 ML is a legal gun for the Pacific Northwest if you are shooting caps.  If the rifle has not been changed to 209 it must still have a percussion ignition installed.

Remington did offer a bolt shroud that fit on the nose of the bolt - if that shroud is installed you may need to remove it so that the cap can been seen and is exposed to the weather.

The only modifications you might need to make is replace the hammer spring if it has become weak and possibly replace the nipple if it has been peened by firing or dry firing.

needs to use the # 11 cap or  musket caps,  must have iron sights or  can be fiber optic  per the Washington  hunting  Regs
the primer Must be exposed to the elements  and shoot black powder or substitute   .as long as you plan on  using it during black powder muzzle loader season .

I still have 2 Remington 700 MLS. I have newer inlines, at a 100 yards, it's hard to beat the old 700.

I love my Rem 700 ML.  Just put on new (used) 50 cal barrel to replace the 54 cal I "pooched".  They don't like double charges.

How would you compare the remington to the knights as far as quality, weight, accuracy, consistant firing ? I didnt realize remington even made a muzzleloader. I am going to be buying a muzzie shortly so gathering info . Thanks nwhunter

I have a bighorn and the Remington 700 ML (the Remy has not been manuf in many years)

Just working up my loading for the 700 new barrel.

My bighorn was extreeeeeemely accurate at 200 yds with the 300 gr SST (3" if I remember correctly)

The BH barrel is about 2-3" longer, so should have higher velocity.
