Crab, it's whats for Breakfast
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:40:19 AM »
Steaming them as i type this......yummmmmm
*
Almost made the crab pot thieves thread but it would of been self inflicted..

Went out Friday evening for a soak or two, was going to drop for the last 30min soak before heading in and was not paying attention when i re baited and drifted over a drop off/depression, tossed the pot and watched as it sank down only to watch my float go under  :yike: wtf  i am only in 60-65ft of water and its high tide..... Look at the depth finder and it says 112ft, great i have 100ft rope, so i do some quick math, 100ft rope, pot and harness approx 3ft, buoy on its own rope with an added indicator so about 2ft there, high tide right now, low tide will be about 8ft less at 5:44am...

Well i had not planned on doing an over night soak but guess i am now  :chuckle:  dropped the other pot in a shallower spot and boogied home...

Hit the water this am at low tide and found the first pot, 1 inch of buoy above water with my added 1ft of indicator and loop pointing straight up  :whoo: and it had 3 keepers in it the other pot had 4 with 2 soft, so kept the  5 and headed home....
Sometimes ya get lucky.... 8)

Oh and got flagged down on the way in by a guy with his family who's boat died, so i did my good deed for the day and towed them in...

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Crab Benedict and Crabacado Omelets are my two favorite dishes at Elmer's this time of year.  Breakfast...It's what's for dinner!

Had my best day ever yesterday size wise,  Took my cousin and her boy friend out who had never crabbed before and in 3 hours caught 11 males all over 8in and 12 red rocks. Funny thing was not a single female was caught.
