If I were you I would keep on putting for that if you are hunting the westside. The only other tag that would be good for elk on the westside is the toutle. But I would stay with the Magaret unless you plan on putting for eastside tags. There are some really good tags on that side of the state. If you are willing to hunt on the eastside for spikes if you do not draw.

Green River would be a good draw too. My son was drawn for a deer permit a few years ago and he asked me to go with him. It was like going back 30 years in time. If you get drawn for Green River make sure you have a bear tag also.

Ya I dont think Green River gets its just dues.  Definetly a good permit to get.  I would take it over margaret or toutle.

THere are lots of good choices out there especially with your ten points, I would say your biggest decision is east or west side for starters. THen whatever you are thinking of going for ,research it and make sure for yourself it is an area you can hunt with the style of hunting you like to do. FOr instance the BLues are great but if you draw the east wenaha and don't have pack animals or want to hire an outfitter you may not enjoy your hunt like you would have in the Dayton. DO your own research and don't just pick a unit because you heard it has big bulls but choose one you will enjoy hunting the most. My2 cents nwhunter

I wouldn't waist ten points on the Magaret or the Toutle.  I can think of three units on the west side that are better and they have all been mentioned.

Little Naches A for rifle.  (I think that is what Norse Peak was referring to), Peaches Ridge B for muzzleloader, Peaches Ridge C for archery.

Some good info here. I have 11 points and I know there won't be a westside permit number on my app.  ;)

Think we'll ever get to a point where we can put in for east side draws but hunt the westside for general season if we don't get drawn (or vice versa)?  That would make planning a whole lot easier.

I have 11, i really do not know what i will apply for.
Our hunt in CO next year starts Oct 10th, we have to leave here on the 6th, i ML hunt so if i apply for Margaret or toutle and draw i will have 3 days to hunt, not sure it is worth it. I have waited to long to only get to hunt 3 days. SO i think i am going to Apply for a point, buy a westside archery tag and chase bulls in september. Or i might buy an east side tag and apply for the blues. Who knows.

We will see when the new regs come out.

I say put in for cow tags! ;)   Big bulls taste terrible and you can't eat the horns.

Or let me mooch off your points and we can put in eastside archery elk together, buddy!

One of the reasons I have no complaints on when the application period is here in this state.  All out of state draws are complete and washington is a fall back state.  With double digit points and limited time to hunt here, I put in for points unless not drawn in other states.  My  :twocents:

Hold out for the margaret...do you really want to put in for the eastside and not draw getting stuck hunting a poor little spike?

I agree, too many tribal hunters. But the CW would be a better option then Matheny. More huntable areas in CW.
