Two calves stuck in a fence

Not my pics so I cropped them.

Two elk calves were stuck side by side in a barbwire fence yesterday. One was skewered through it's hind quarter on a fence post and was tore up pretty bad. The other was caught by it's leg.

Both were freed from the fence.

One will survive. The other will likely die of infection and/or predators.

glad somone stopped to free them and give them a chance to grow up!!

Life is rough, hope they make it. Glad to see they were found in time to give them a chance...

Rough deal.  Hopefully infection and stress don't take their toll.  They are tough animals.
