Training Pigeons in the 206 or 360 or 425?

Hi,

Does anyone know where I could buy training pigeons in Seattle or north of Seattle?  North of Seattle like Everett, Marysville, Stanwood, etc would be ideal as my Britt and I will be training with the breeder the next month and he lives pretty far north.  It would be ideal to just pick them up on the way up to Deming.

Where I live now I can't accommodate a pigeon loft yet so they birds would just be transported up.  Which, by the way, leads me to my next question..... how do you transport say 5 pigeons together in the back of a truck?  Will 5 pigeons be ok together in a cage for about a one hour drive?

5 pigeons would ride fine in a cage together provided they aren't wind blasted or over heated.

Find a cat or small dog crate at a garage sale for a few bucks and you will have a great tool for carrying pigeons whenever you need them. They would be just fine in the back of the truck but if the dog is there too it might make things interesting  . I always kennel my dogs in the truck so not a big deal but I know a lot of guys don't. Portage Bay Grange in U-District has maybe a dozen pigeons, quail and last time I was there a few weeks ago they had some Chukkar. Prices were not ideal but it you're in shoreline its not a bad drive in off traffic time.

Good tip Birdguy on the small dog crate for the birds.  I think I am going to run with that.  The birds can go in the bed of the truck and Opie can ride shotgun with Dad.

Colin, dude.. I didn't even know there was a "grange" in Seattle.  Thanks for the line on that.... I guess the whole urban farming thing is really taking off.

Update-- I may have to head under a bridge with a fishing net as the grange wants $20 a piece for a quail!   

I also asked about the pigeons and apparently they are pets.... the gal who answered the phone was very nice and helpful but I am going to have to look elsewhere.
