Upper Columbia Rules and Regs
« on: August 04, 2014, 05:24:11 PM »
Anyone have a link to the rules and regs for the upper Columbia? Looking for the page that tells about salmon limits and talks about net requirements. I am not finding what I need to know in the reg book. Thank you!

What are you looking for? What area? No net restrictions on the columbia (ie. Knotless, etc.) Limits I believe are the same for most of the upper river.

Well, you cleared up the net issue....wondering about retention of Chinook jacks, must they be hatchery, can you keep jacks with adipose fins? Do the jacks count against your daily catch of two adult hatchery Chinook? I feel I know these answers, but I'd like to see the regs again to make sure.

Chinook in the upper have to be fin clipped, no "wild" retention. Jacks do not count towards your adult limit, typically 5 the regs will read "salmon: limit 6, up to two adults, meaning the other 4 must be jacks. I do believe that you have to stop once you've retained the adult portion on your limit.

For example, right now in the brewster pool, the limit is 8 salmon, only two adult chinook, up to 6 sockeye..( regs say 4, but is now 6 due to emergency rule change.)
