Went down to see my momma over the long weekend, I love Central Oregon, especially the Muledeer hunting, but the heards are in trouble and it is harder and harder to fill a tag.
Thurs. my stepdad and I took a road trip out China hat rd. past Pine mnt. out to the desert, saw 20 deer, and 2 real good bucks that were chasing and hearding them around, they were to quick for me to get a pic, but both were quality bucks.
Right before we saw the bucks we came down the dirt road(trail!) and someone had set a trap in the intersection of 3 roads and it had a real nice coyote in it. Now I am not opposed to trapping and I have even hunted coyotes in the past, but this poor dog just looked sad! My step dad had a little 5 shot .22 that folds up and you carry it on your belt like a knife, well that thing is not accurate and he missed the dog all 5 times, and no more shells, so there it sat as we drove off, I hope that trapper comes and gets it soon.
As we left the dog behind we couldn't help but wonder how many deer and antelope fawns that trap has saved over the years, definately needs to be more of then down there thats for sure.
