Puppy pictures, smart birds, and a couple SD summer camp videos.
« on: September 13, 2014, 08:42:18 AM »
I'm on my way home from picking out my new Brit pup from summer camp.  You never know if you picked the right one or not, but I think we made a good choice.  She isn't the cutest pup from the litter, but I think she will do.

Pheasant numbers are up about 75% over last year in SD, but unfortunately we didn't get to break out the horses and chase sharptail because of the recent rain and slippery conditions.  That left us to running young Derbys out of the truck.  It's almost stupid how much training a trainer can get don't out there.  One evening we ran 6 Derbys in about 3 hours, and each had 3 pieces of wild bird work.  We easily saw 250-500 pheasants in that time.  Did I mention those birds aren't stupid?  The bird on the top of the bail is a rooster that hasn't colored up yet.  There were a lot more when we first drove up, but 20-30 jumped off the back side before I could snap the picture.

This is a young derby who hasn't been broke yet, though you might not know it.  He's going to be nice!

Man- if she isn't the cutest, that must be a pretty damn nice litter! Great looking little girl, hope she works out for you.

I hope so as well.  If she has any kind of career like her parents have had, I'd be exstatic.

The dog in the video is going to make someone a really nice trial dog as well.  He's a beast, and a great looking derby so far.  If I had lots of money, I'd buy him, but I dont have enough money to run 2 All Age dogs.
