Hot weather hat, beanie, cap, head covering
« on: August 11, 2014, 07:04:57 AM »
What do you recommend for hot weather hunting?
Something with scent control?
Something mesh style?
Light weight merino?
Nothing?
Bald guys cover that glaring head?
Gray headed guys always wear something?
Some sweet Doo-Rag?

I don't believe in scent control.   Its called being downwind.   Something with a  brim to shade the eyes.

I just wear a ball cap with mesh in the back. Or not with mesh in the back too...it's not that hot.
 :dunno:

I know it's supposed to not be bad, but the thought of a wool hat on my head when it's 85 degrees outside sounds horrible to me.

Vented boonie cap. 10 bucks at any surplus store and worth it, keeps the sun in check and allows your head to breath.
Thank God for Hunting...gives me something to think about at work.

I wear a lightweight Kuiu merino beanie (it's super light weight) and it breathes amazingly. When it gets wet just take it off and hang it on a limb and it dries quickly. I hate hats because the headband in them gets sweaty and takes forever to dry

I have a Sitka merino beanie and it's too small for my giant dome.
Anybody know if the Kuiu ones are bigger? Or know of any that are bigger.

Bought mine at Cabelas to match my turkey gear. A brim and some mesh are a must do IMHO.
