First thing, don't hunt anywhere near your cam if you have any sort of attractant.

Bears don't always have a death moan, but certainly listen for it while you are listening for any other indications of direction. A quick search on calling will give you more than you can read in a night,.

Bear meat is top shelf if it's cared for properly.  The worst of it isn't.   Skin, quarter,  de-bone and cool right where you find em.  You'll thank yourself later.   As for following up on the shot... 1) take your time to make a good double lung shot.   Double lung and there's no need to waste meat busting the shoulder.
2) some will moan before they die,  not all though,  and you may not be able to hear it if they do.
3) 30 min to an hour is good time to wait if you don't hear the death moan.
4) blood trail slowly,  looking ahead and around.

Hope this helps,
Pygmy

I have shot 4 bears and only one has done a death moan. All of them have went less then 5 yards. If you know the area a bear went into and you lose blood you can get on the down wind side and sometimes smell them. We have a found a couple of friends bears that way. They don't always bleed very well.

Raspy is very good for calling bears. I have had more luck with fawn distress then anything with bears. 2 of mine both spring bears have been spot and stock and my 2 fall bears by calling.

I truly appreciate the info. guys, could I use one of those can calls for the deer bleet or is there a certain call I need, and what about the hide is there something I need to do with that,or do you guys discard that or is everyone made into a rug ??,my significant other wants no part of that anywhere near our house so I'm kinda lost with that part of it ,or is there some oriental special demand for them to make something of some secret value I'm not aware of  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

A distress call is what you want to use. You are more likely to get a response with a panic sound over a casual bleat. I know guys that have had bears come in to elk calls.

The hide is up to you. Sounds like you better not get a rug made or your hide might be on the wall next to it when your wife finds out lol.

2 of 4 of my bears had death moans as well....only two because the other two were shot in the head at close range.  They're tough suckers.
