Elk are lovin it
« on: August 15, 2014, 07:40:18 PM »
The cooler wetter weather.   They were extremely vocal today, active during the day, frolicking out in the open, and best of all shredding velvet and polishing bones.

Peaches got a good soak.   It felt good to know I may not spontaneous combust as I was sweating climbing the hill, or my vibram soles may not spark and cause a catastrophic burn.   I hope the firefighters are taking advantage

up north I was driving over huge ,and brand new washouts across the roads ,moved through the woods not making a sound walked up on two bucks ,so much better than last year in 364 ,fires road closures ,90 degrees, and oh ya !!the Christian rock band that plays at the top of access road 105 at midnight on the fith every year ,wow !!now that really felt like hunting, but don't get me wrong, if I got that bull tag I would be part of the insanity up there again, but kinda enjoying different areas for a change, good luck up there guys ,and don't forget to check the jeep clubs schedule they allways make you feel like oh I don't know like maybe there way of saying get out ??

Not all washouts are bad.  I was working one filling my backpack with agates.   It was good to see standing water Naches.  The ground was pretty saturated too.

I have some pics on my cams with the velvet coming off around August 8th or so this year.  Very similar to last year in my area.
