OK, so here is the shake down..................FAIL  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

The "swing" was a big fail. I didnt make it to hold tight, but to swing in and out with out a way to lock it in place. While pulling pots, the arm would swing in ward, so one person had to hold it forward while the other pulled in the pot.

The "rocking" motion of trying to keep it steady flipped the front pulley off and away it went to the bottom of the sound  :bash:

SO I made some modifications, I cut off the quick mount and welded a plate on the bottom and drilled holes in the plate. I can now screw it in to the Scotty mount for a rock solid mount

I picked up a new pully from Sportco ($44) and squeezed the hook so it cant fall out again  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

But, I had another fail last weekend  :bash: :bash: The wheelchair wheel that I mounted is to far from the boom and the rope kept falling off of it, so we still had teh front pully and that was way easier then pulling on the side of the boat.

Again with another change  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: gotta move the wheel right next to the boom, that should help with the line angel

Rich_S, I like that motor, may have to pick it up and modify it to work with a boat roller

Crab season is just around the corner  :brew:

You know what?  I pulled all of my 300+ foot deep pots by hand last season, no big deal when I used the pulley on the boom.   I do like my puller though since i got the new motor back for the late shrimp season up here.

You might consider a gear on your main shiv/pulley and a spring loaded pawl on the boom that acts like an anti reverse should a wave hit and you lose control of the handle that think will become an arm/hand/jaw breaking weapon when the pot heads back down to davy jones's locker.

One of those anti reverse anchor holders would work for that.
