With the rule change to two kings out of Westport, I booked a couple spots with Deep Sea Charters on the Blue Eyes. That was the only boat with room, and we got the last two spots. I have never fished on the Blue Eyes or with Deep Sea. I am confident that any Westport skipper should put us on the fish. Has anyone ever been on the Blue Eyes?

Had a blast on the Blue Eyes. The boat limited, mostly coho. 5 keeper kings, biggest was close to 20lbs dressed. Not sure if it won the derby for the day. I caught a lot of fish, jack kings, and wild coho. One fisherman even caught a good size shark, around 6'.. :dunno:. I caught fish till I though my arm was gonna fall off. Probably 5 or 6 wild coho for every hatchery was the trend on the boat. That was fine with me, as it was a blast catching them! I had a good 15lb-ish king to the boat, and on his side 3 different times, but it failed to find the net before coming loose. Heartbreaking! The skipper was dropping netting comments to the young deck hand routinely after that! :chuckle: Great crew to fish with, and I look forward to going again sometime. The Blue Eyes is a beautiful boat, with lots of elbow room. We crabbed the day before in the harbor. Caught a few that were very close, but no keepers. Had to quit as we were loosing bait to a dang sea lion, big ole fat thing. :bash: Tore up our rings, and ate a lot of bait. we would wait for him to go away, and just when we though we were good to soak for a while, he'd be back.

Glad you had a great trip sure a lot of native silvers. Next time you fish crab with a ring net put the bait under the ring they will usually leave it alone but you still get the crabs.
