muzzle break for 300 rum
« on: August 26, 2014, 08:23:33 PM »
I have a Remington Sendero that I would like to have a break installed on. The barrel diameter is .820 at the muzzle. I would like to keep the break the same diameter as the barrel but I am not finding much out there for choices. Can a break that is .850 be turned down to match or will that weaken it too much? Any info on this would help. Thanks

I have a Shrewd Precision 7 Degree brake on mine. Mine was tapered down only, to match the barrel at the end of the brake.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

my sendero has a defensive edge brake on it. it is slightly larger than the barrel, I think its 1 inch. it looks good I think, and more importantly it works very well.

This.

I have a DE brake on my .300wm heavy Encore barrel. Not sure what the od of my barrel is but the brake is slightly larger than the barrel.

I have heard that the new brake from Benchmark works well.

Regarding the 300RUM in the Sendero. I am considering one, the SFII. How accurate is your RUM???? The only think keeping me from picking it up is the ability to fins 230grain Berger Hybrids on the shelf. Do you have any experience with the 230 Grain Berger? Will they fit in the OEM Magazine??

My sf2 shoots 215 hybrids well under moa. I have a wyatts box but my cousin runs them in a factory box and shoots about aswell with a cdl sporter weight with a brake. I dont have any experience with 230s tho.

I'm not aware of them ever being out of business.

I have used thier brakes on Mk12's, a 338 ultra and a .243 and have always been very pleased

I checked out Defensive Edge and Benchmark. Both have the style I am looking for. Going to call benchmark in the morning and get some info from them. I didn't realize they were local.

I ended up putting a Benchmark brake on the rifle. It looks really nice and works better then it looks. I had a 10yr old tossing rounds down range on Sunday. I would compare it to a 7mm-08. However, I am not impressed with the accuracy I am getting. Tried 150gr, 165gr and 180 gr bullest and does not like any of them. Best groups at 100 yards is around 3 inches. They were all TTSX and Accubond rounds. I guess the up side is that I will have some once fired brass to load up. I picked up some 180 grain Partitions, so I hope they work out. Will post pictures later.
