The ocean out front has been on fire all week. And still is. The bulk of the run has not come over the bar yet.

We fished above the bridge the last 6 days and had awesome King fishing with many, many hookups a day. We came home a day early on Sat as we had too much fish to process. Which is a good thing!

I have run 30 pound ultra green leaders everywere my whole life and never had a King chew thru a leader. Even all those private trips to Rivers inlet with 40 to 60 pound Kings.

Use quality line!

Mike Its hard for me to see you used bait what happened to the spoons fish still biting up here this is turning into a fishermans year.

I only used bait when I had too.... :chuckle:  My tested Coho Killers caught about half the fish.... Bigger kings both were caught on the Cop Car Coho Killer, behind a triangle glow in the dark flasher...

I fish BIG HOOKS, BIG BAIT and heavy leader. I target kings. The big fish will swallow the bait and both hooks, I have had big fish chew thru 40-50 lb leader. I use 100lb and have no problem getting whole herring to spin as fast or faster as plug cut. We very seldom loose them once they are on. I use 8" plugs as well with a 10/0 hook and 100 lb leader. Works great . Good action from stiff leaders especially on hoochies.

Good for you. I'll stick to my tiny baits and tiny hooks. I too have never had a fish chew through a leader. I usually run 30 pound leader to 50 pound braid. Only time I run heavier is when I'm hog lining wobblers and that's only do to other anglers.

How big are the kings where you are? The average here is low to mid 20's with a rare 30 plus thrown in.
