CCI Musket caps

am i the only one having problems with the cci musket caps not igniting pyrodex pellets? and yes i have cleaned my gun head to toe! nipple, breech barrel, firing pin...everything! the caps are going off but they dont sound like anything special...i just bought a the RWS musket caps to see how they do! i never had a problem while sighting my muzzy in...10 shots and only one mis fire (plugged nipple) when i was bear hunting the other day i pulled the trigger and just the cap fired...fire 4 more caps off and they all fired and powder would not ignite...but there was more humidity in the air that day too....

I prefer cci musket caps they seem louder than germans at least when I tried them years ago.The only ignition problem I
 have ever had was because of a bad nipple.I use a redhot nipple on my Bighorn along with 3 pyrodex pellets for the last 15 years with no ignition problems.

I use 777ffg loose powder. I have never had one misfire or hangfire ever. Musket caps or #11. Every shot ive ever shot with this has felt like a centerfire rifle. I see no need for pellets. I use speed loaders with measured charges in them and they load just as quickly as pellets, and fire more reliably.

Great, now my gun is going to mifire when I shoot at my deer this year.

just to make sure we are talking about the same ones....here are the ones cci makes now...it says its for both reenactment and real, i heard the older ones were fine..(#300) the 301 is what i have

I use speed loaders with measured charges in them and they load just as quickly as pellets, and fire more reliably.

Great, now my gun is going to mifire when I shoot at my deer this year.

i have heard great things about the old ones...these are a lighter charge....but i bought them cuz it was the only musket cap sportsmans warehouse had here and i needed to get my muzzy going, as far as i know these are the only muskets cci makes now

I appreciate the heads up. I have shot loose 777 loose, real black powder and pellets they all work .Whatever you decide on make sure you buy fresh every season.

I used 100gr up until a week ago. I now use 110gr.

This is why I recently switched to #11 caps. I went to 3 stores and nobody had any musket caps other than the pic above. I didnt want those because I heard that they were very susceptible to moisure and hang fires, so I got the cci #11's. No issues yet.

im thinkin thats what my problem may have been with them(moisture)...when we sighted it in it was 95 outside, when i started having problems it was 50 out in the morning and their was a tons of moisture in the air, hopefully the rws ones i dont have a problem with...

Go and buy the German musket caps....problem #1 solved.  Go buy loose powder too....problem #2 solved.  Pyrodex works really well for me.

Pellets are more difficult to ignite than loose powder.

Right on the lid of those CCI caps it says "for reenactment use". I don't if that makes them not as hot or not. But it makes me suspect...

Go and buy the German musket caps....problem #1 solved.  Go buy loose powder too....problem #2 solved.  Pyrodex works really well for me.
