How to keep elk out of Deer areas?

I have a great Deer spot, but the problem is all the elk Take over (Its a non Elk Area) how can I keep them away from the deer?

I've had similar problems in the Cle elum area. As soon as as the elk moved In 1 day the deer were gone. The following week the elk were back and the deer have never returned. Been 7 years and I've never seen seen a deer back in that area nor tracks. Just the occasional elk tracks now..

I've got literally thousands of pictures of lots of deer and elk on the same cameras. I've got dozens of pictures of elk and deer in the same picture. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I've seen deer and elk feed alongside one another until one day the rut flips a switch and the deer bug out.  Seems all is fine until the bulls start getting aggressive. 

Other areas I've seen bucks actually get aroused by the cow estrus and keep bird dogging the herd.  Bulls chase them off and they keep coming back.  I'm not sure why some get bothered and others don't.   Never been able to find the answer.

I do know that some areas hold deer until sometime in August and then the deer can no longer sustain themselves on the feed available.  Elk on the other hand can still strive on the vegetation that is left since they are cud chewing animals where deer are not.  I expect the deer would move back in as soon as the vegetation became more compatible to their digestive/nutritional needs.

You could always drive up close to the elk in a big arse white truck, leave the engine running and start bugling from the drivers seat.  That seems to scare every elk in our area across the boundary and into the Toutle a mile sometimes two.  We'll have almost 100 elk in a draw opening day and after two days of the bungholes bugling from their trucks there is not a single elk to be found for weeks

Great idea but this area is 2 miles in no vehicals aloud maby its just time to find a new deer area or find where they are moving to

I don't know that there is a solution. Really I don't know how much of a problem it really is. Is this a baited camera site? If so, what kind of bait are you using?

Deer will change their routine throughout the year. Maybe the deer just made a normal transition around the time the elk showed up.
I wouldn't think there's much you can do to keep the elk away.

They'll lose interest in the salt as summer goes on. Around about the time they lose their velvet is when I've noticed it. Moreso this year than last. At 1st I didn't buy it, but now I've seen it. I suspect that the deer have lost interest in the salt and haven't actually been run off by the elk. Just my guess.
