Bear down
« on: September 15, 2014, 09:02:11 AM »
Alright got back last night on our 10 day hunt. Me and my sister were bear hunting and my dad was archery for deer. Day two my sister shot her bear at 206 yds. On Thursday  was the day my wife and kids would come up and so I took my wife up the hill, this is her secound bear she has taken. We tracked it for a while but then heard it move  . We backed off till morning, we started the trail again and found it. Not a monster but she was pumped. Sunday, day to pack up and head back, my dad went out to try a stand for a few. He got this buck at 6:45. Not a bad week, plus I found these racks. Have to wait till next weekend for mine, I'm holdn out for the blond  bear wev seen around. We seen 5 bears, tried calln one in but he winded me. Maybe next time

What was the bear eating?  What elevation did you find it at?  Was there water in the near vicinity?  I see multiple bears per day, every day, until service berries dry up. Then when bear opens September 1st I struggle, just feel like it's dumb luck when I find them.  Only way I feel I can have a good chance of finding a bear on occasion after Sept 1st is by hunting wet shady creek beds.  I know there has to be a more efficient way.  This year is especially frustrating.

I'm no expert but here's a little of what I know
This time year the bears are eating like crazy.  They like the berries the apples the plums. If the berries have dried up they got to be eating something ,look for the fruit. Over here in the blues the blackberries are just now starting to fall. But the apples and the plums are falling off the trees so they're going to move to those next. Find a food source that they are clearly using and just sit and wait.  Or try calling him in that's what I've been trying

Have you had success calling? Are they pretty cautious coming in? I've been trying to call, no luck yet. Sounds really exciting to call one in!

Well just got back from a weekend of bear hunting. I found the blonde bear I've been chasing but wasn't given the opportunity I needed, I also got to see a big 5 x 5 boil at 35 yards and found a set of horns on the ground I'm on a roll with two points. That blond caramel bear is beautiful have to try again in a couple weeks

This is a the answer from WDFW HELP website for the question:Can I pick up and keep deer or elk skulls with antlers still attached that I find in the woods?
No. You may not possess wildlife that you did not legally harvest, and only naturally shed antlers can be collected. I'd turn that "shed" into fodder or turn it in to the game department. Better  remove the picture, too.pcal
