I had the chance to introduce grouse and hunting to some very special kids to me this year, found a few ruffs that made there day....

Now that's really cool. Grouse are just the perfect game to get kids interested in hunting. That's what got me started.

a ruffed grouse was my first kill.  just outside of dayton a ways about 20 years ago.  was hunting pheasant with my dad and our two labs.  they flushed up a grouse and i made the shot.  the old dog and the young dog ( young dogs first year hunting ) had a bit of a power struggle and kind of mangled the bird deciding who was going to bring it back.  but yeah, grouse started it.
