I would get out and do some looking.  Google, read the waterfowl game pamphlet and do some homework and you will find some locations.

There are many places to go. Just gotta find them. People dont publish shots, it can turn out badly. Do some research, start with what WDFW has to offer.

Whatever. Try the rivers or silver lake if you have a boat. The upper end of Riffe can be good early for teal and a few mallards on the flats, if you can still hunt there. It is easy to walk in, and will hold birds on the puddles following a good rain. Small ponds in the hills will all hold a few teal and ringers early if you have access. Bring a dog, as they look shallow, but mud can be a death trap. They will usually shoot good at first light, but don't stick around long. It is nice to let the spot rest. Best bet though is to hit the rivers, as they provide more area. Float the Cowlitz and smoke those geese and mergana-saurs!

I'm looking forward to some serious Merganser shooting this year. Especially with my new custom Mergie decoys.

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

Don't take this the wrong way but if people told you their good public spots on the internet.....they wouldn't be good public spots anymore.  Do some leg work.

Then what is the point of having this site? Hunting spots are no different than guns, decoys, or boats. If one finds a shotgun load that just smokes the birds, shall keep it a secret so that the legions dont kill all the fowl? Many will woe the demise of a personal honey-hole. Really,  I have yet to see it happen. You will still be doing a lot of leg work, but ask away brothers,  I'm fullof info that I would love to share, openly. You are the bold few that ask.

Metlhead,
You should post up a few of your fishing holes that are good on here and ifish.  See what happens shortly afterwards.  Elbow to elbow individuals.  Even worse for limited waterfowl, guys will start hunting it from open to close.  To much pressure and the birds leave or it become a fraction of what it used to be.

Most are willing to share , loads, decoys, etc.  Goods spots would be like sharing your girlfriend or wife with all your buddies.

Whatever again. Like I just said, I have not seen it happen yet. A half mile above Qloquallum crk., right side of the Chehalis, park at the upstream point of the slough and twitch 1/4oz purple jigs or slow crawl light #4 spinners for non-stop on slab silvers from now till Christmas. Swing light spoons at the inside bend above mission/cougar for an easy early morning limit of summerrunns August through September on the Cowlitz. Ducks? Smith crk. launch on willipa, go out 280yds, on your left, a nest of spruce. Take a seat on the incoming for easy wigeon. I even bring people I meet to these places so others can enjoy. My good hunting partner was even asked to bring his buddies to some. I have enough go to spots for most any situation. Never  been crowded out of a spot "I" discovered, only places others found first. Would never compare my wife to a fishing spot or duck marsh, she is beyond precious, so share I shall to all who want to know. You just gotta figure out the details, and that takes time.

Appreciate the willingness to share, I got in trouble last year just posting the unit I shot a buck in, even though its all private. I am the worst salmon fisher on earth, maybe i'll try one of these spots!

If you post spots on the web you will never get a good hunt their again. I used to do it all the time until I had to start getting there at 10pm the night before. No freaking thanks. On top of that they left a ton of trash everywhere.  I will never give a spot up. Never.

You want help with decoys, spreads, guns, ammo, shooting, WMA's, I'll give ya everything I got. Literally. But if you want to directions to a spot........... I'm gonna tell you to pound sand.
