Caught a sturgeon up at Ringold today while salmon fishing
« on: September 27, 2014, 08:00:29 PM »
didn't expect to hook one... ever.
Was just adjusting my depth and this guy slammed my lure.
I thought i had a huge salmon on but nooo.
We had to take it to shore to remove the hook.
Good god it was barbless, it was inbedded in deep.
Hes was about 4 feet  8 inches (I'm about 5 foot) and estimated to be around 30-50 pounds
Took some quick pictures and sent him on his way to live another day  :)
This was a great experience for me that i will remember for the rest of my life.
Also caught two salmon, of course :chuckle:

Two salmon and a bonus sturgeon - sounds like a perfect day. Congrats!

Sounds like a perfect day fishing!

You really shouldn't remove them from the water unless you can keep them. They are easy to unhook if you roll them so they are floating upside down. There is a season for them earlier in the year and they taste great with a very firm texture like lobster.
A smart dog will bring 2 beverages to save a trip to the fridge!
