Very cool! I hunt very similar country in Western MT and its amazing how far off a bull will sound, then all of a sudden they're in your lap. Thanks for sharing the video, got my heart pumping! I love how aggressive you were with the calling. Cutting him off with bugles, etc.

Thanks everyone.

This is how aggressive we call on the majority of our setups.  At one point in the call in I cut the bull off and you can hear him bugle 2-3 times on his own. At that point I knew we were at least going to get a look at him.

I may have to take a page from your book. In my experience in the country we hunt; unless a bull is really fired up we will locate with a bugle or cow calls and try to work in silent, only calling to relocate. Aggressive calling/raking trees will send most bulls packing. They will usually keep bugling, but moving away into heavier cover. Although if we get right into their living room we'll let one rip and they usually respond well in that case. I think the area we hunt just gets a lot of guys bugling from the top of the drainages so the elk are somewhat educated to calls. I guess it just comes down to sounding like an elk; as you guys obviously do. I may have to check out some Phelps calls. Thanks again for sharing, very cool!
