Note that 2/3 to 3/4 of the state's harvest happens in the NE corner of Washington (ie - north Lincoln County, Stevens, Ferry & Pend O' counties with Colville as the turkey capital of Wa).  In fact approx 99% of the state's harvest happens in eastern Wa (that's why they not only have a spring season, but it's the only place that has a early and late fall season - ie - no fall seasons on the west side).

Only 0.1% (or 4 to 5 birds) of the harvest happens in NW Washington and approx 1% or (approx 50 birds) in SW Washinton.  The eastern sub species is spread out, in small groups, very quiet, etc and you will spend a lot of shoe leather just trying to locate them especially in your area .... and add to that, they are the hardest to successfully hunt.

My advice is to go east young man ... especialy the NE corner.   :twocents:

tell you what, I'll set one loose in the woods behind the house and you can have some fun. :chuckle: and you will only have to drive 10 miles from your house  :chuckle:

I was over in the NE corner this past weekend and honestly could have shot dozens (no exaggeration) out of my truck window.  Appears we had a really good hatch, hope we don't have a hard winter that negates that. Keep in mind it's beardless only for this fall hunt so personally I'd prefer you wait till the late hunt if you go over.  I saw one flock of 15 longbeards, I've never seen that many longbeards in one flock before (record for me is 26 jakes in one flock that hung around the house one winter)

While most of the open estside units are 2 beardless only, there are also other units that allow an additional bird of either sex (or allow you to just go get a tom if not interested in the hens and/or poults.

In his particular area of residence, there is no fall hunting for turkeys at all ....  there were several of us that tried to get additional turkeys planted in his area, but the organic farmers raised concerns and WDFW folded immediately instead of addressing their concerns.  :yike:   You can thank Mick Cope for that ....
