An air rifle is not legal, although you probably would not be cited with a coyote.

Pitchforks aren't legal either.

Bob, it appears that this is incorrect. It states in the link provided a few posts up that unclassified game can be hunted with an air rifle.

My information is correct. Air rifles are not legal.
http://app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=232-12-047

"(3) It is unlawful to hunt game birds or game animals, except bullfrogs, in a manner other than with a firearm, a bow and arrow, or by falconry, except in those designated areas where crossbows are allowed."

A coyote is a game animal. An air rifle is not a firearm.

They are a game animal. A license is required to hunt them, and they are regulated.

a license is required to hunt all un classified's.  How are they regulated? Open 365 days a year and no limit. Can be hunted withany hunting license. Also listed on my PDF list of unclassified animals in WA

They are an "unclassified game animal" so you both are right.  :chuckle:

Classified or not, they are a game animal and thus are subject to regulations pertaining to the hunting of game animals.

I still believe in this and the many others who have contacted WDFW to ask:

http://wdfw.wa.gov/help/questions/356/I+heard+about+hunting+unclassified+wildlife.+What+do+I+need+to+purchase+and+what+type+of+weapons+can+I+use+to+hunt+them%3F

So a .22 air rifle is legal.
I have no problem with it. Shoot them all.

Looking in to this air rifles. Many of them are the same price as a firearm.  Sounds like a blast though.

Oh yea they are, he paid $230 for his .22 air rifle but it's all he can legally have.

Looks like contradicting information. The WDFW shows an air gun is legal to hunt coyotes. You state an RCW showing otherwise. Looks like a loophole.
