the final count down..
« on: October 06, 2014, 11:42:41 AM »
Finally...the opener is upon us. Come Saturday what will your set up look like? How many deeks will you be running and how many will be in your group. Any unique deek stratgies for you guys?

Well have 6 guys, 12 dozen deeks and this year i added a bunch of teal to my spread as well as some surface feeds and some of those GHG active mallards with the adjustable heads.

Good luck!

Deeks still is storage and will be working or something else.  Opening weekend is a cluster, a zoo, and a effing JOKE!

Will likely be doing the same here.  Not worth the battle for the opportunity to shoot a few local birds.

I'll run a dozen decoys. Early season Eastern WA. I don't see that many birds bunched up to run a big spread. I see lots of groups 6 to 10 birds. I'll try to look as natural as possible. I want the onezy towzy groups to come in.

2 of us saturday and 4 sunday. We will run a few dozen, here and there. Based mainly on what we see the birds doing. I love opening weekend.

I can't believe its duck season tomorrow it seems like the season just ended! Dang this year is flying by!!! Ill be going solo for the opener-running maybe a half dozen decoys, not my usual tactic but after yesterday's scouting trip I doubt I would need any more than that for this particular spot.  Good luck everyone! Can't wait to seeing some success pics tomorrow!
