Kicked off the Mountain by crazy weather
« on: October 11, 2014, 11:44:41 PM »
Our hunt this year started off right...we hunt Entiat and saw a 4x4 Mulie at first light but couldn't catch up to him. We were able to spot a few doe and learn where the buck was probably bedded and what his path was thinking we could get a look at him on our evening hunt.

Then the wind picked up around 11ish...rain around 2:30...and by 3:30 our tent frame gave way. We packed up and headed down the mountain frustrated.  I saw a few deer driving off the mountain but nothing too exciting enough to stop for...and I've never really been a road hunter.  Frustrated yes...but the season isn't over. Guess I'll try some wetside hunting. Sure would be nice to post a pick after this horrible start.

I've slept in the back of the truck with nothing more than a blue tarp, bungy cords and an emergency blanket because I was seeing animals.  I'll gladly run off the mountain if not seeing anything, but when the animals are there it is so dang hard to leave :yike: :chuckle:

Sorry to hear of your bad luck.  I'd sure like to see a pic too.  Hope the good luck finds you soon!

The night before the wife killed her first archery elk the weather had been horrible for a week.  We tried to climb out of a hole and the mud was coming down do hard you'd gain about six inches with every three steps. Rain, ice and snow coming at us sideways.  She was soaked to the bone, tired and in need of a hot shower.  With tears in her eyes she begged me to take her home :'(  But we were in animals every day!!  So I sat her down and said, "If you want to go home you had better quit messing around and kill an elk.  That is the only way you will get me off this mountain!"

Next day...heart shot at 5 yards - dead elk  :whoo:  She laughs about it now.  Well, most of the time :IBCOOL:

I heard there was a tornado in the Puget sound.  Cool photo of it.  First one since 69.   The winds in the Moses lake area were crazy.

I remember being at the fair grounds in Lynden around the mid 80's at a car show.  We watched a thunder storm to the west that had a lot of yellow with the dark in the clouds.  It hung there for a while and suddenly the wind picked up and the storm moved towards us quite quickly with pounding rain, swirling wind which made everyone run for cover.  It was kind of strange and made the hair on the back of your neck stand up.  It was mesmerizing watching the storm come in too. We heard on the news afterwards that it was a tornado that didn't quite touch the ground. It really stuck in my head.
