Seen a nice bull were the gate that go's to the bridge in september. Hope fully the Indians wont mess with us this week. Made a good friend from PA has a cabin on the oil city road.  Rick

There used to be a bunch of bears around that bridge too.  But this year no sign.  The big berry patch had lots that fell to the ground and the beehives on the bridge don't even have bear protection.  The bears used to keep the blackberries trimmed back and you could walk down that road along the river, now it is overgrown.  Good luck over there.

My dad had some logger friends that worked in Forks in the 60s and 70s. They had a cabin they stayed in during Elk season, and he has some pretty crazy stories, and a lot of good memories from way back. I remember him telling us they had this one Warden that would come by the cabin a couple times during season and drink with them. They'd let him get loaded, and then start asking him about where he knew the Elk were. Helped them find a few. That probably doesn't happen to often anymore!!!

hmmmm.....maybe that explains one of the last warden encounters I had out there.  The guy seemed really out of it.

I got ran off the road by Fairbanks late wife. Then he pulled up. Put his high beams on in my face. While his wife went through my canopy. This was on state land. I under stand why she got shot. Not a nice person. DIdndt talk to her husband. Her boss was around wich I know very well. He said Her husband took it hard wich I would have to. That was during the big Baiting bust. I was coming back to matheney from bear calling Clearwater. Don't see many game wardens. Just sheriffs. Like forks. Hunting will be great again. see all the clear cuts coming around bridge area. And that is were a lot of the elk hang out. Good luck. Rick

I hunt the CW every early season and they were cutting the heck out of the DNR this year... I think its going to get worse before it gets better... not a lot of places for them to hide, anymore, from the Quins...

Watch your gear.  There's tweekers in them there woods.  Ha ha.  But in all seriousness, there's some seriously strange people floating around up there.  Still not sure why a girl on a bicycle with flat tires and garbage bag full of wet kids toys, and other junk was doing miles from anything in the middle of the night.  Not the friendliest person I've ever run across either.

The tweekers usually aren't too bad for hunters, they'll probably be so busy ripping off fishermen to get to you.  As long as your hunting camp isn't set up at a boat launch, you'll most likely be ok.  They don't really go to too much effort to go up forest roads that are hard to escape on and involve the risk of getting shot.  Plus, I heard the two main ones have been avoiding the woods because the loggers are after them for vandalizing a lot of equipment.
And yes, lots of strange folks; but about half of them are interesting and nice.

there is bears all over kalaloch ridge these days, at least in august and sept, i think your gonna have a very good place up there with the permit, seen some heavy heavy elk action the last weekend before they closed up the gates for the permits. bearmanric if you need a cooler and hanging my place is always available....i havent heard of a hunter getting broke into in years, fsherman yes, but actually hear more of other fisherman vandalizing each other stuff....yes there is strange people in the area of clearwater, they live in the middle of nowhere for a reason haha. i know about every road on the clearwater, better then anyone i know, spent a lot of time up there the last ten years. chased a couple nice bulls out there in archery but as usual they are much smarter and faster then me.
