Elusive elk
« on: October 30, 2014, 04:16:03 PM »
Been hunting the manastash and haven't been able to find a cow to save my butt. I don't know where they have gone I saw two elk last night and of course they were both two points going back up Friday night we will see what happens

Please don't tell me you have a cow tag, Things have gone to heck up there the last few years. We have ate some cow tags in the last few years. I do think with all the land getting locked up on the west side it has put a lot of pressure on the elk that were once there. That being said, there are a few elk in there running around, good luck

go figure. 8 thousand coasties and all that road traffic. I wouldn't be close to the road either. theres lots of empty ground there.

Yes I do have a cow tag and if it keeps going the way it's going I'm going to eat this one just like I did two years ago up there. Trust me it's not from lack of effort I put ten miles of boot leather to the ground just this morning the only method I haven't tried is road hunting maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. I've hunted the same area for 22 years now and have faired pretty well with 16 elk killed over that time but it has seemed to have gotten worse the last few years

I spent the last 7 days up there in the Pumpkin patch, Jeep and four wheeler jamboree. Saw 40 animals, got within 20ft of 2 cows yesterday in the rain. Weather was nasty for all but 2 days. Visibility, in fog was at times 40 yards. No elk for our camp. Not sure about the Little Naches cow tag the one guy had. I haven't received a text yet. The wettest elk season I can remember. I got soaked.

Oh and Pretty Cool Huh's camp moved. I guess they finally had enough of the wind. Which ironically was coming in from the SE for most of the week.

More road closures are need IMHO.Road hunting was at an all time high.

From what I heard, the Pretty Cool camp moved because someone was already in their spot.
