A must have for the first aid kit!
« on: December 17, 2008, 08:01:46 PM »
Super Glue!  My daughter split her head open this evening, not real bad but enough for a stitch or two.  I called the Pediatrician who said run down to the store and buy some super glue to try first.  We did, and it worked great!  And it only cost $1.50 as compared to an emergency room visit!!!  I am keeping a tube in my hunting first aid kit from now on!

Great stuff.  I have used it once. Only problem was keeping it off your fingers as you use it!

Superglue works great!

For the stuff superglue will not keep closed, I keep a small curved upholstery needle and 2 lb. fishing line in my kit.  I have sewed up horses, a kid, and one adult.  The adult was the cry baby of the bunch too. :yike:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

That plus wrap electrical tape around a cut and you're good to go.

The powder works a lot better. Or better yet use cayenne pepper. You can pour it on or just mix it with water and drink it. This is a good read. Not only does it stop bleeding it will stop a heart atack!!!

the regular super glue tends to be a little runny and can get really messy. They now have a super glue gel thats thicker but is easier to keep under control and costs the same

another item that works as a band-aid and will help bleeding on small wounds is the white filmy layer that is on the inside of an egg shell. Peel it out and place it over a small cut or bite and will seal it off.
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

Honey works too. It dries sticky to keep the wound closed and has some natural antibacterial properties. You can get those single serve packets at KFC.

Yarrow works well to stop bleeding as well.  It is a comman plant found almost everywhere.  Look it up and keep it stored in your long term memory then look it up again next week so you can remember it again. ;)
I've slowed down enough in my old age to finally let the game catch up to me
