Quality buck

Only took five years of putting in for this tag. The cold front that came in this week, came in really cold in Cle elum. 9 for a low and highs wouldn't get out of the 20's. Wind was making it hard to glass and the ground was very crunchy. I took my fiance with me. Figured this would be an easy hunt. Well, Deer weren't moving like I thought. We hunted hard the first day. Only to see Doe's with no bucks. The 2nd day, being yesterday. We headed up a closed road I've never hunted. About two miles in we spotted a 2 point with a doe. Both deer were eating and milling around. About 250 yards away. Then the doe jumped and ran about 10 yrds. I glassed her and there was a 5x5 that I hadn't seen. My heart was pumping now. They ran over the steepest ridge and out of sight. I told my fiance we're heading up. After a 25 min hike and gained about 300 ft. We got the top of the ridge. I started glassing and the first little opening through the trees I glassed stood the 5x5 350 yrds away. That is a long shot for me. So we just sat and watched him for about 15 mins. Then He started walking towards us. Once he hit 290 yrds. I was feeling like I can make this shot. I have shot a few deer at 250 Yrds. Well, 3 shots later and the biggest buck I've ever seen while hunting trotted off with not a scratch on him.
To add in my heartache, My fiance says.... You're a bad shot.
So after gaining myself and thinking of what might of been. We started back hiking. We were now 5 miles in but only 2 miles from where we left a truck. We started down a ridge line that was in line with our pickup. It was steep open timber. We had gone about half a mile when I looked at the GPS to make sure we were still on track, when a nice 4x4 buck just up from his bed 15 yrds away. It was a fast stare down. I looked over his rack, face and body. Then decided this would be a good buck to fill my tag on. Boom, he went 35 yrds and dropped hard. This was my fiance first time around a big game harvest. I was very happy she got to share that moment with me. This is my biggest buck to date. Not the biggest, but this will provide meat, stories and memories for a very long time.

Alaska, that's a good buck, way to go. He's got a big body and his ears look huge. If you still have his head would you measure the width of his ears from tip to tip. Just curious.

Good job, way to get her done. Love it when they are within bow range with a rifle in hand.
