Just back from dropping off mu sons Buck at the Taxidermist and while inspecting the cape found a rub that is going to look pretty bad. He is going to try to find a cape but looking for help from all the taxidermist here if you have a cape or suggestions on a good source. Will have a measurement in the morning but he thinks its around 24". Sons first buck so any help is much appreciated.

Where was the Rub? Shoulder? Did you drag the deer?

My son and a friend drug it out about 300 yards and I watched them and looked like they had it nice and high but something went wrong. It is by the shoulder and will be very noticeable. I will keep my fingers crossed syoungs, Thanks You.

Depending on how far back the rub is sometimes it is possible to incorporate habitat in that area.

You can also do a Wall Pedestal with rocks filling the scoop. Remove the damaged hide and bring the rock around to fill it.

THe ground was so dang frozen over there when he killed that buck! Fisheral and I drug his all of about 150 yards and the ground completely tore all the hair off of the ground down side. Brutal. Good thing he was planning on a euro mount anyway.
