99-07 gm transfer case problems
« on: November 19, 2014, 09:28:11 PM »
Hey guys I just ran into a problem with my 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 HD. I noticed the transfer case had a leak and what I thought was the rear seal turned out to be something totally different. If you own any Chevy or GMC four-wheel-drive truck you might want to google "case rub issues." I hope this helps and can save you guys money instead of going to a transmission shop and having them tell you that you need to rebuild your transfer case.

Ya aware of that one for a few years now.  Hope my truck beats the odds.  So far no issues.

Well they make a kit that you can install yourself for like 70 dollars and you won't need to buy a rear case cover like I will.

Ah case rub.. I have done..... 1000 or so of them 8) Less than 1% needed a case half either updated clip or Kit from Merchant Automotive and done. Most done in truck. JB weld is your friend. Did mine and my dads and my best friends with updated clip and JB weld and have had Zero problems.

BTW when I say done in the truck I am taking them apart in the truck and putting JB weld on the inside not the outside
