curious to know if anybody deer hunts in the lick creek gmu down in the blue mountains?
i think it's more known for elk hunting, but i was just wondering. i know there's deer there, and i think if i keep hunting the southeast during general deer season, thats where we'll end up...the land we have access to is going up for sale. if anybody's interested in 1450 acres of wheat, crp, canyon and creek bottom land about 3400' in the blue mountain foothills...i can hook you up

you have gotten into the turkeys there, eh?
last fall from the road i saw a big bull with a harem of cows, then a little further up the road a flock of turkeys with a few longbeards in it, a bunch of deer, a coyote stalking a doe and fawn, and some more elk later on all just driving around on the mountain roads out there in 1 night...such a cool place for a wetside boy like me. my inlaws live just outside of pomeroy so we get out there quite a bit.

I elk hunt down there most years. See a few deer, but not a lot. Did a little scouting last year a couple of days after the deer opener. Saw a few deer hanging, one being a very nice WT.

As far as elk go, we always see some. Although I've never seen a spike during season. Last year Dad and I both saw large bulls on opening day. A couple years ago we saw three different herds just before season, yet did not find one after words.
I will be going down there this weekend to try to find a bear.

some decent muleys up high, whitetail down lower. as far as elk, there are lots but there will never be branch bull tags available. its a popular tribal hunting area and guess what gets shot most often-big bulls.

hunted this unit out of asotin hunted the timber line the muleys hung out about half way down the canyons the whitetails were in the bottoms once in a while you would find them up the ridge lines bring good hikeing boots. also if your looking for elk if the winds howling in the cayons hunt the small draws on the tops

I hunted this unit for deer and elk this year with a bow. Had been watching a couple of good bucks all summer. Nowhere to be found when I was there, Sept 8-19. I drew a multi season deer tag so I didn't get to carried away with deer early. I might try looking for them opening day with a rifle. I plan on looking around 162 and 166 also.
