First Pheasant!
« on: December 16, 2014, 11:24:32 AM »
My dog, Remi and I headed out for a morning hunt on Monday to jump shoot some ducks along the creek and to hopefully see a pheasant or two.  With the warm temps, the creek had no ice, but I didn't jump one lousy duck.  But, as luck would have it, my dog and I checked a spot on the creek and a rooster flushed up right off the bank.  As I pulled up, I had to turn directly in the sun.  I knew my timing was right where the bird was, so I shot being blinded by the sun.  I moved to where I could see and I saw a couple feathers floating in the air.  I knew I hit it, but I wasn't sure how solid.  So, after we crossed the creek, Remi went searching and he found it right away.  This has been a long time coming, so I was super stoked to drop my first pheasant.  What awesome looking birds.  Hopefully, they'll replace it.  A couple more flushed way too far away for a shot later that morning, but I didn't care.  All of the ponds had a thin layer of ice, so no ducks were holding there either.  Oh well, we had a fun morning hunt and I was proud of my pup on how he did.

This was the first time using my new small video camera, and unfortunately, the shot blew out the mic, so afterwards, all I here is static.  Bummer!! Hopefully, I can get my camera replaced.  It's not a GoPro, it's an AEE HD action cam.  It takes great video and it's way more affordable than a GoPro.  Has anyone ever had this issue shooting with a GoPro?

Nice going, I remember my first. That was a long time ago. With a dog of that breed (GWP?) you will likely get many more.

Thanks! Remi is a WPG out of Skeeter Holler Farms.  He has shorter hair than most. I was more excited for him, because we've been trying for a couple years now.  He has a ducks and quail under his belt, but this was a good one for both of us.

I don't know how to tell them apart WPG-GWP. A friend had a griffon with longer hair. It was long enough that burrs could mat covering his eyes. Not good.
