How do you keep them from circling you. I did not have a decoy or anything moving, would that help?

If you plan on them circling you will usually get a shot.  When I call with the wind at my back, how close I let them get is determined by wind speed and terrain.  I will never call with the wind unless I am elevated.  I need to see a long ways and  if I call something out of the bottom of the canyon my scent will carry over the top of them until they are in shooting range.  When you are comfortable with the shot, take it.  Scent killer doesn't hurt either, I don't know for sure if it helps, but it doesn't hurt.  Some people are "misting" at a stand, and that has become more popular in recent years.  This is mixing up a bunch of scents and spraying them in the air.  It is used to confuse the coyotes nose and get them to pause long enough to take a shot, rather than bolting immediately when they hit your scent cone.  I have not tried it, mainly because I don't want stinky crap all over me, my hands, my clothes.

So here are some rules of thumb for your set-ups, especially in your country.

1) Be able to see downwind of you.
2) If possible, set up with a barrier to your downwind side so an animal can't circle to get your scent.  For example, setting up with a cliff drop off or a lake to your downwind side.
3) Try to get elevated.
4) Limit movement and trust your calling.  If one winds you and you don't have a shot and it is early, keep calling and go for coyote #2.  If a coyote bolts or pauses because you moved, but it does not have your scent, you have a good chance to keep that coyote coming into you.  Try lip squeeks to coax them in closer, just don't move.

A decoy will help you get away with a little more movement.  An electronic caller will help you from getting winded and not having a shot.
Dreams are forever on the mind, realization in the hands.
