My first hunting license was $5.50 in 1969 :yike:
wow thought I was old lol  never got one untill the 80's just after passing hunter safety. I was 14.
I remember dad took to Grandmas and Granpas that night to celebrate got to drink beer lol.
Oh well still pushing 50 so not that far behind.
Glad you guys got to know a lot cheaper prices than I.
Not sure all this extra money the demand from us has been worth it though. Seems like the more it costs the less you get to go. But whatever still interesting to see how things are/were.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Somewhere I have a box of WA Hunting Regs for every year from the late 30's on up until the late 70's.
That would be really cool if you still have them.

Each county used to have their own game/wildlife commission, they also appointed their own game wardens.

California still has a system like that. Each county has a fish and wildlife commission which serves as an advisory commission to the state fish and wildlife commission. Per law, county fish and wildlife commissions can hire their own game wardens to work for the county although as far as I know none do. So basically you'd have the state fish and wildlife officers, and the county fish and wildlife officers. Counties are also authorized to operate their own fish hatcheries.
