« on: December 19, 2014, 09:55:56 PM »
luv the nines comments from previous threads and want to expand it a bit.  am looking for a lite nine.  what are the lighest(least weight) nines in the $500 to $700 plus range.  I have 3 cheap ones so am looking for a better, smoother nine.  have an xdm and an lc9 which I don't like. thank you,  mike w

Mike

There are a ton of choices out there and I am by no means a professional.  With that disclaimer....I would highly recommend looking at and firing the Ruger SR9C (compact).  I bought the SR40C and absolutely love it.

Pro's
-  Medium to small frame that still fits my hands.
-  One of the best triggers you will find in this price point...hands down.
-  Striker fired which has a ton of benefits as stated in previous post.
-  Great magazine capacity...and if you want more it will fit the standard SR9 magazine.
-  Price....you can buy this pistol for under 450 including tax.
-  Adjustable rear sight
-  Extremely accurate

Con's
- I have not found any yet.

I have put 4-500 rounds though my 40 and have not had one misfire, jam, anything but bang every time I pull the trigger.   It is my primary carry pistol and I have all the faith in the world in this firearm.  If you are in the area look me up.  My next pistol will be the SR9C because I love the 40 so much.

Save up some more money and have a custom built 1911 in 9mm with an aluminum frame.  You could go with a factory pistol too if you had to.

"Lite" often equals barrel jump.  It is never that much with a 9mm, but something to consider.  I wanted compact, but fun to shoot.  I ended up with a single stack Sig P938 SAS.  It is a steel frame and compact.  Because it is steel, it isnt as lite as the polymer ones available.  It is very managable, a good carry and fits a variety of hand sizes depending if you want to use an extended magazine.  It is more comfortable for me with an extended magazine and my daughter shoots it with the standard capacity magazine.
