Plenty of Alder in some whitetail country.

As for Adler, I believe that was the name of a villainous femme fatale from "Sherlock Holmes"   :dunno:
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Without getting too specific it was in the draw of a creek that eventually feeds into the Kettle river.

i have pics of another in the area after the velvet shed before rifle season that at first I thought was the same buck, but looking at it there was no way it matched up with this guy. I'll post him up when I get back on the computer at home. I have yet to see any of these big guys when I am over there with a tag I can put on them.

That certainly is a wow of a deer!  Great photos, how close were you & what kind of camera if you don't mind saying?

About 45 feet when he came over the log, closer on the head shot and the camera spooked him instantly with the one shot.

I have to guess it was the Canon 1D I had back then with the 70-200 2.8 IS lens, most likely shot wide open at f2.8m.  Could have been compression from the focal length along with the OOF area that makes that "adler" in the background look huge.   I have to dig through the files on CD where the original is to read the exif info for the exact set up.  Where I have this stored online it stripped that info.

lol   No GPS info on any of my cameras besides my Iphone, but I'm usually using that to play Angry Birds while waiting for critters to walk by.
