Got to call 1-800-327-BAND today!!
« on: December 27, 2014, 07:08:11 PM »
Had an amazing morning. Got to my duck pond to see literally over 1000 birds feeding in some puddles on the farm, being so flat we didnt have a chance at them and they flushed. Close to 100 landed in my pond, my hunting partner and I snuck into the blind to see pintails and mallards galore. None of which where in range from where the blind was. I told my buddy to wait while i hiked the pond to try and scare some up when I hear shooting unexpectedly. Out of no where this drake come swinging my way, I had a split second to decide if he was too high or not and because I have dropped birds at about the same range I fired two shots folding him dead in the air. I absolutely cannot express the excitement and disbelief when I picked it up to find it was banded. My first ever band, and on a huge Drake green top!! SO exicted!

was told it was banded in AUG 2014 as an adult in Eumeric, B.C.; I looked up EUMERIC(spelling?) Does anyone know where this is? I havent received the official email yet so i went off what she told me and it was hard to understand with my *censored*ty cell service.

Happy new year!

Nice! You will always remember your 1st band. All of the others are just another banded duck until you get that one that is the oldest and farthest bird around. My 15 banded duck I shot last year on the last day of season wad a mallard hen that was banded 15 years ago from Fairbanks Alaska. Im getting her mounted to go with my 1st duck iv ever shot mallard Drake 23 years ago. Pretty cool all in all.
