Benelli Nova problem (not Super Nova)
« on: January 05, 2015, 10:18:31 PM »
So, last week when I was duck hunting, I fired a round or two and then the trigger would not pull to fire another one.  I looked online and discovered that the Super Novas have a problem sometimes with the shape of the trigger.  Upon firing a heavy load, there is a small hump on the back of the trigger that catches in the trigger guard rear opening.  One person's fix was filing this bump off and then they had no more problems.

I tried filing a little bit which seemed to work a bit as when it jammed the next time, I was able to get it working without disassemblimg the trigger group again.  I will try sanding it down a bit more and see.

Has anyone else had this problem?  I was firing Winchester Xpert 1550 fps #3's.  I think I have fired these before without problems, but this was a new box.  It did seem like the primers were a little flatter than my other rounds fired recently.  Nothing else has changed with this setup.

Thanks for any input.

Not sure, Loki.  I have two of these guns and have never experienced a problem through hundreds of shells. I have a 18" rifle sighted barrel on one and have shot a lot of Federal Premium 3.5" 00 Buck through it and never had a problem with the gun absorbing those mule kick loads. Good luck getting youg problem figured out.

Yeah, I've shot turkey loads through it as well and never had an issue.  I'm thinking it might be this box of shells but I'm still going to sand that little nib off more.

These are 3" shells.

Sanded the rest of that little nub off, no malfunctions yesterday wiith a limit of ducks to show for it.  Although, I did use a different box of shells, same brand but different run.

I will contact Benelli.
