Installation of a F150 brush guard

Is it difficult to install a brush guard on a pickup? 

I've always wanted a brush guard, and have just picked up a 2008 F150, and would like to install one.  Am I looking at a day-long process?

I don't think you'd be looking at an all day job but it's tough to say for sure.
The hardest part I've seen about them is having enough hands and arms and legs to hold one in place while you bolt it up. A couple buddies, a floor jack and/or some jackstands and/or a forklift are good things to have handy.

What kind of brush guard are you thinking of? My old one I had on a F150 I installed with my dad in about 30 minutes. Definitely don't need a forklift for it.
The only problem with mine was, one of the brackets from the kit was short, so that one didn't get installed.

Not sure yet.  I'd like to have one that'd fit a winch, in case on of those ever comes down the line. 

The biggest thing I'm afraid of is buying one and finding out that the guard's brackets don't fit with what I've got underneath the pickup!

Whether you want a "brush guard" or a bombproof bumper.
The brush guard weighs 85 pounds.

I would be cautious about a brush guard, aka damage multiplier.  If you hit a deer etc most will fold back and create more damage.  Get a proven bumper like an arb and you'll be good to go.   Just add up all the weight before you start spending $$$.  As you might end up doing springs also.

Warn transformer is probably the best bet if you want it to be able to house a winch, not break the bank, or weight 300+#, they will install in a afternoon pretty easy, might be helpfull to have a buddy there as a extra hand and such.

only down side is I dont think the transformer will stip a large animal if hit, and can turn a small fender bender into much more.

Installing a brush guard is pretty simple.  Instal the upright pieces first, one at a time.  Then install all the pieces that go between them loosely and tighten when everything is on.

The OP is asking about a Brush Guard and not bullet proof bumpers. I've had GoRhino, ARB, WarnTrans4mer and the Warn I have on my 2500HD right now.
