Turkeys in western Washington info

Hey me and my buddy are going for the grandslam this year.  Is there anyone that could help me with tips, information, or locations of turkeys in western Washington?

Or maybe introduce yourself, let us get to know you.
I know I work WAAYYY too hard to find Easterns to share any information with someone who I have not met and know next to nothing about.
I appreciate that you want to learn, but this is an exchange, an open forum.
You could have invited someone to come out and hunt a Merriam, or Rio, with you in exchange for coming out and hunting Easterns.
 
I am pleasantly surprised you have not been shredded already by some of our members for asking outright for information on your first 2 posts, without telling us something about yourself.
Good job starting early, now is the time to scout.
As mentioned, research old posts.
Burn some fuel and bootleather.
Share some pictures (we love pictures) and tell us about yourself.
Maybe by April you can have the chance to get your a$$ handed to you by an Eastern like the rest of us.


P.S. Buy a WH permit for PeEll and I can point you in a good area (I wont pay)

living in Unit 501 I thought I was in the middle of prime Eastern territory, yet have seen more raccoons and coyotes than turkeys near my home.
It seems the birds are spreading out, rumors of them along the Cowlitz and Toutle drainages, and from Frances to LeBaum.
Capital forest, Vail...
Scout, scout, scout...
I find small scattered flocks while on long walks behind gates, start well before daylight to possibly hear any, but usually just look for droppings in road, then learn the area near the droppings.

Chaney - You may also do some preliminary research on the WDFW site --- I've found maps, Turkey management Plan, etc on their site when I first started hunting.   Then you will need to spend a lot of shoe leather to find small groups which will move when the habitat changes enough (approx every 5 years).  Concentrate in the general area of stream bottoms.   Eastern's are usually quieter and shyer that east side birds, and it's brushier which gobbles up noise.

SSB - How many pair of boots have you worn out ---- 2 or 3 per year?

I've found them up and down in 520...but you gotta pay to play with the birds I know of. They are few and far between...Good luck

Chaney, your not far from me. Ive been searching for birds in our area for a long while. I will tell you I finally found some and we do have them close by. Best thing to do is scout your heart out. Im a bow hunter so that also aids in the amount of miles I cover in the woods. Do a ton of research and scout. Good luck!
