Lake Dickey and Pleasant info

How is the trout fishing at Lake pleasant and Lake Dickey this time of year? I've heard there is a sockeye season at Pleasant but I would assume that it isnt for a few months but I was also wondering about access to Lake Dickey. Looks like its a few miles back on timberland and was curious if its gated or if there's even a boat launch?

Thats what I was really wondering. I was looking on google earth and there seems to be lots of lakes and ponds all throughout the hills in that area and it got me wanting to do some exploring but wasnt sure what the rules are for going in that area.
I wouldnt mind buying a permit for that area for hunting if there is a decent amount of good deer hunting out that way. Where I live, deer hunting has really gone downhill for the last 10 years and Ive been thinking about scouting other areas to spend my time even if its an hour drive away. Any idea what kind of a permit system they have for that area? Highest bid or just a flat fee everyone pays.

The permits expired December 31 if I remember right.  Just go on thr Rayonier site and look.  Also thats how they sell their permits.  First come first served.  Dickey doesn't have a launch and really there's not a good area to bank fish from.  The old launch that was there back when I was a kid has has a summer house built on it.  I still fish the lake but only catch and release due to the mercury content I've been told about.

Flat fee, But different price for certain areas. The deer hunting in there is what you described for your spots. There are lots of beaver ponds, lakes streams and they all have cutthroat in them. There is the prime elk area that the fees are higher. You can contact rayioner timber for details. Lake pleasant has koks and cutties, Not sure what the seasons are though. Also a good launch and no access fee. You might consider beaver lake also. Good access.

Sounds like I wont be taking my valco jet sled there then. Thats ok because I have a small 12 foot aluminum thats real easy to drag around by hand so even if I have to drag it 100 yards, that wouldnt be too bad. Seems weird that lake supposedly has such a high mercury content.

I have always wanted to fish Beaver lake considering how many times I have drove by it on the way to fish Sekiu and Neah Bay. If I do lake fish that area, I plan to stop there and give it a try at least.

Beaver has a few, but most seem kind of smallish.  Plus lots of grass and shallow.  Might look into Wentworth.  Not sure if permits have messed that up, but it was on DNR with a launch and had DNR roads going to most of it.  It is where they used to release all the steelhead that returned to the Bogachiel hatchery.  Lots of logs around the bank.

OP, you could drive a little further to Lake Sutherland--trout plants and kokes, WDFW parking lot, no gates.

No wentworth is fine.  Dickey lake is behind two gates and to drag a boat is about 1 1/2 miles.

I didnt realize that Lake Sutherland even existed. I always thought that was part of lake Cresent. I may have to give that lake a try when lakes open up in April.

Sutherland used to be part of Crescent.  Crescent used to drain out the Elwha.  Then a big landslide cut the Sutherland part off and Crescent raised up until it formed the Lyre river.
