first tanning project
« on: February 10, 2015, 05:44:16 AM »
Using a salt and alum recipe i have completed my first tanning project. Still have a lot of learning and perfecting to do but im feeling rather proud of myself. I kept postponing it thinking it was gonna be hard to do. It wasn't that hard at all just need some more bunnies to practice on.

Nice, got any pics of the leather?
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Is the hair still tight? Where are you finding your alum or the aluminum sulfate? Looks great tho.

I thought it was going to be difficult also but its actually pretty simple.
I decided on a recipe provided by motherearthnews.com

I eventually found the alum at our local health food store. The hair is holding strong though next time i need to do better at stretching. I decided since i only had one i could hand stretch it which i would do again just longer. It was a fun experience and cant wait to do again.

Ok,yeah thats what I do as well.I havnt done it yet but I would guess the battery acid one is one that you would use for no fur?I use the plant stuff at the home depot for the aluminum.
